Role Summary
We are seeking an energetic, highly motivated, team-oriented Metrology Technician to be responsible for creating and executing inspection methodologies for electro-mechanical components and subassemblies for Amperesand’s solid state transformers. In this role, you will operate and program metrology equipment on a regular basis. You will inspect parts, provide and ensure accurate measurements and reports on components critical for Amperesand’s manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Enable inspection and verification of parts or assemblies using an arm-CMM and conventional hardware (calipers, gauges, etc.).
- Create measurement programs using PolyWorks for routine measurements or investigation requests.
- Provide, check, and analyze data and output reports to assist in quality improvement activities.
- Coordinate calibration activities, ensure that all test and measurement equipment is calibrated prior to use.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) best practices across departments.
- Manage non-conform material identified in inspections.
- Assist in the identification and resolution of supplier and manufacturing quality issues, contain parts or products as needed, sort parts for quality requirements.
- Support supplier for corrective action requests, root cause, and implementation of corrective actions and countermeasures.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement activities with engineers and external suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Must be fluent of the English language, both written and verbal.
- High school diploma. Skilled trades training or degree in mechanical or quality field, or equivalent demonstrated on-job experience.
- Experience with metrology equipment programing and measurements.
- Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings (including GD&T).
- Proficient with Polyworks software, point cloud alignments, laser scanning.
- Previous electro-mechanical inspection background with the ability to use basic hand measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, thread gauges etc.).
- Ability to give presentations and prepare technical reports
- Ability to use IT systems such as Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint. Able to manipulate data in Excel and databases such as SQL.
Essential Physical Demands
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12 hours a day.
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours/day, including over varied and uneven terrain.
- Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs.
- Frequently and repetitively, bend, lift and reach to install parts.
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours/day.
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing.
- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, arm protection, and adhering to prescribed safety rules and guidelines.
Please note: This role requires working on-site 5 days a week. We do not offer hybrid or remote options.
