Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Quality Engineer to support solid state transformer production. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the Quality Management System to enable high quality products and commercialization. You will partner with design, supply chain and manufacturing to develop Amperesand’s quality processes, you will lead regulatory and customer audits to qualify Amperesand as a preferred supplier.
The Quality Engineer is a professional problem solver, that can make good use of quality techniques to solve quality challenges and develop reliable processes that prevent creation of defects. The Sr. Quality Engineer will work on high quality products that meet the high reliability standards in the electrical grid equipment business.
Responsibilities:
- Development of processes to meet the ISO9001 standard.
- Lead customer, regulatory and compliance audits.
- Development of manufacturing requirements, quality standards, and product quality plans to ensure products meet the expectations of our target customers.
- Deployment of manufacturing level requirements to subsystems, assemblies & components to ensure a clear focus on design and customer needs.
- Identification of critical requirements to ensure proper supplier and production focus on critical needs.
- Lead development of FMEAs (Design & Process) for development teams to identify and address critical risks.
- Manage and facilitate the root cause & corrective actions system through tracking and validation of issues and support in root cause analysis through facilitating brainstorming, use of lean methodologies, hypothesis testing, design of experiments, etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- ASQ or Six Sigma certification are preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in quality, with background in electrical assemblies and/or power electronics.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are an absolute requirement to establish effective working relationships within Amperesand and its partners.
- Specific training and demonstrated success in applying design for quality and problem-solving methodologies, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc.
- Strong background and demonstrated success applying statistical methods.
- Minitab, JMP or other statistical software capabilities are preferred.
- Data mining and database (e.g. MySQL) experience.
- Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
Please note: This role requires working on-site 5 days a week. We do not offer hybrid or remote options. Travel up to 15% of the time to suppliers and customers in the USA and overseas.
