Job Description
Responsibilities
Define and execute the Agentic AI and Generative AI strategy supporting Home Lending and Mortgage Operations.
Partner with executives across Technology, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Architecture, and AI COE to prioritize and deliver high-value AI initiatives.
Lead evaluation, design, and deployment of AI-powered solutions including intelligent automation, workflow orchestration, and decision-support capabilities.
Drive AI proofs of concept through pilot and production implementation, ensuring measurable business impact.
Champion engineering excellence, secure-by-design practices, architecture standards, and continuous improvement.
Develop multi-year AI, automation, and platform modernization roadmaps aligned to business and technology priorities.
Evaluate AI platforms, vendor solutions, and developer productivity tools to accelerate innovation and engineering effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with enterprise security, privacy, model governance, audit, and responsible AI standards.
Lead, coach, and develop engineering teams while providing executive-ready updates on roadmap progress, risks, investments, and outcomes.
AI Strategy & Enablement
- Define and drive the strategic vision for Agentic AI, Generative AI, and intelligent automation across Home Lending technology platforms.
- Partner with senior leaders across Technology, Operations, Risk, Architecture, and AI Centers of Excellence to align AI initiatives with enterprise priorities.
- Lead adoption of emerging AI capabilities, driving measurable business outcomes, operational efficiency, and responsible AI governance.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders on AI-enabled modernization and transformation opportunities.
Engineering Modernization & Innovation
- Lead evaluation, proof-of-concept development, and implementation of emerging AI, automation, workflow, and cloud technologies.
- Drive adoption of AI-powered engineering productivity tools and modern software engineering practices.
- Champion engineering excellence through architectural standards, code quality, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with product, architecture, security, and business teams to scale innovative solutions into enterprise production environments.
Platform Strategy & Transformation
- Develop and execute multi-year engineering, automation, and modernization roadmaps aligned with enterprise and business objectives.
- Prioritize investments across AI, workflow automation, cloud modernization, and platform capabilities based on business value, risk, and strategic impact.
- Translate complex technical opportunities into clear business outcomes and value-driven investment cases.
- Evaluate technology partnerships and vendor solutions to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and compliance standards.
Risk, Governance & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to enterprise security, privacy, audit, regulatory, and AI governance requirements.
- Embed secure-by-design and compliant engineering practices across all technology solutions.
- Partner with Risk and Compliance teams to mitigate operational, technology, and model-related risks.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, coach, and develop high-performing engineering teams while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Build strong partnerships across Consumer Lending, Technology, and Business organizations to drive strategic outcomes.
- Communicate technology roadmaps, delivery progress, risks, and business value to executive stakeholders.
- Influence investment and prioritization decisions through data-driven insights and measurable business impact.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Six to eight years of relevant technical experience
- Five or more years of leading a software engineering team
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience leading software engineering teams and delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions.
Strong understanding of Generative AI, Agentic AI, LLMs, AI agents, prompt engineering, and AI orchestration frameworks.
Experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, MCP, A2A, and emerging AI standards.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms including Azure or AWS, cloud-native services, APIs, storage, compute, Docker, and Kubernetes.
Knowledge of AI services such as Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Services, Document Intelligence, AWS AI/ML, or similar platforms.
Ability to develop business cases and translate AI, automation, and modernization opportunities into measurable business value.
Experience partnering with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Security, and vendors to implement governed AI solutions in regulated environments.
Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and organizational change management skills.
Banking, Mortgage Lending, Consumer Lending, Financial Services, or highly regulated industry experience preferred.
Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $126,820.00 - $149,200.00
