We are partnering with a rapidly growing, venture-backed AI company that has recently secured a substantial seed funding round led by leading investors, including support from Valor Equity Partners. The company is building the next generation of AI-powered copilots for industrial workers operating in some of the world's most critical environments.
Their mission is to bring cutting-edge multimodal AI into industries where AI adoption remains in its infancy, including data centers, energy infrastructure, aerospace, and industrial operations. By enabling field workers with intelligent, real-time visual assistance, the company is creating a foundation for the future of industrial automation and robotics.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional Industrial Applied AI Computer Vision Engineer to help build and own the core multimodal intelligence layer that powers AI copilots for frontline industrial workers.
This role sits at the intersection of computer vision, multimodal foundation models, agentic AI systems, and real-world hardware deployment. You will be responsible for developing visual reasoning capabilities that enable AI systems to understand complex industrial environments, interpret visual inputs, reason over real-world tasks, and provide actionable assistance to users operating in the field.
This is an ideal opportunity for engineers who have successfully shipped production-grade multimodal AI systems and want to tackle highly impactful real-world problems at an early-stage, high-growth startup.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and develop the company's agentic Vision-Language Model (VLM) platform and multimodal AI stack.
- Design and deploy advanced visual reasoning systems capable of interpreting images, video, and sensor data in industrial environments.
- Build multimodal workflows that combine computer vision, language understanding, and autonomous decision-making.
- Develop evaluation frameworks, benchmarking systems, and model performance pipelines for production AI deployments.
- Architect orchestration systems that enable AI agents to operate effectively on real-world hardware platforms.
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and field operations teams to rapidly iterate and deploy AI solutions.
- Optimise AI systems for real-time performance, reliability, and scalability in operational environments.
- Contribute to the long-term vision of expanding AI copilots into broader industrial automation and robotics applications.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 1–5 years of post-graduation industry experience building and shipping production AI systems.
- Strong experience developing and deploying multimodal AI applications in real-world environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in computer vision and visual reasoning technologies.
- Experience working with modern Vision-Language Models (VLMs) and multimodal foundation models.
- Strong software engineering skills with the ability to take systems from prototype through production deployment.
- Experience building evaluation, testing, and monitoring frameworks for AI systems.
- Proficiency in Python and modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will be particularly attractive:
- Real-time multimodal AI systems.
- Object detection and tracking.
- Image and video understanding.
- Visual question answering and visual reasoning.
- Semantic and instance segmentation.
- Vision-Language Models (VLMs).
- Vision-Language-Action (VLA) systems.
- Wearable computing platforms.
- Robotics and autonomous systems.
- Autonomous vehicles and perception stacks.
- Edge AI deployment and optimisation.
- Sensor fusion and real-world perception systems.
What We're Looking For
- Builders rather than pure researchers.
- Engineers who have shipped products and can demonstrate real-world impact.
- Individuals excited by working directly with customers in industrial environments.
- High-ownership contributors who thrive in fast-paced startup settings.
- People motivated by solving complex technical problems with meaningful commercial outcomes.
Why Join?
- Opportunity to join immediately following a major seed funding round.
- Work alongside an elite team tackling technically challenging and commercially significant problems.
- Build AI products with clear product-market fit and large enterprise demand.
- Exposure to industries with massive market opportunities and limited existing AI penetration.
- Direct influence over product direction, technical architecture, and company growth.
- Significant equity upside as an early employee.
- Clear pathway toward future industrial automation and robotics initiatives.
Compensation: Up to $240,000 base salary plus highly competitive equity package.
