Founding Applied AI Engineer
ABOUT THE ROLE
You'll be an early engineer at Aldren, working directly with the founding team to build AI that handles some of the most complex, high-stakes document workflows in pharma and biotech. You'll own AI systems end-to-end — from retrieval architecture for structured and unstructured data to production evals — and have real influence over how the product takes shape.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
→ Architect and build agentic systems that reason through complex, multi-step document workflows
→ Develop retrieval infrastructure over long, structurally complex documents spanning thousands of pages
→ Own the eval and trust layer — benchmarks, hallucination detection, regression testing
→ Work directly with customers to understand the problem firsthand and close the feedback loop fast
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
→ Demonstrated experience shipping LLM systems to production
→ Strong opinions on how to build effective retrieval systems and reasoning agents
→ Hands-on experience with evals, guardrails, and reliability infrastructure for high-stakes, accuracy-critical environments
→ Ability to own a system end-to-end
→ Product intuition and genuine curiosity about hard domains with legacy technology
→ Experience in Pharma / Biotech is a plus but, curiosity is more important
