About the RoleWe’re looking for a versatile engineer to own and evolve our AI backend technical stack. You’ll be the primary engineer responsible for designing AI-powered image generation pipelines, building production APIs, and managing cloud infrastructure.
This is a high-autonomy role where you’ll make architectural decisions, ship features end-to-end, and work directly with the CEO and clients.
What You’ll DoAI Pipeline Design & Orchestration (Core Focus)- Design and build end-to-end AI image generation pipelines—from product image input through multi-model orchestration to final deliverable output
- Build automated QA/QC systems using vision models to score and gate outputs, with retry and prompt refinement loops
- Develop prompt engineering pipelines and evaluation frameworks to measure and continuously improve AI output quality
- Handle production-scale batch processing with concurrency control, physical-dimension-aware compositing, and progress tracking
- Evaluate and integrate new AI models and providers as the landscape evolves
Backend & API Development- Build and maintain production REST APIs serving external clients (Python / FastAPI)
- Orchestrate calls across multiple AI providers with error handling, retries, and fallbacks
- Design async job processing architecture for long-running AI generation tasks
Infrastructure & Operations- Manage cloud infrastructure on GCP/AWS including deployment, monitoring, and scaling
- Own the full software lifecycle: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, CI/CD
Frontend & Internal Tools- Build lightweight frontend prototypes, interactive demos, and internal debugging tools (React / TypeScript) as needed
What We’re Looking For- 2+ years of experience building and shipping production software
- Strong proficiency in Python—you’ll write Python daily
- Experience building REST APIs (FastAPI, Flask, or Django)
- Hands-on experience designing multi-step AI/ML pipelines—not just calling a single API, but orchestrating workflows with quality gates, retries, and prompt iteration
- Experience integrating generative AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or similar)
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP preferred; AWS or Azure also relevant)
- Experience with async/concurrent programming (asyncio, worker pools, batch job management)
- Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions with minimal oversight
Nice to Have- Experience with systematic prompt evaluation (building evals, scoring rubrics, A/B testing)
- Image processing knowledge—aspect ratios, compositing, resizing, format handling
- Frontend development skills (React, TypeScript)
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Docker, infrastructure-as-code
- Background in e-commerce, furniture/home goods, or product data management
- Experience scaling from single-instance to more robust infrastructure (containerization, horizontal scaling)
