About the Role
We're looking for an innovative, passionate, and self-motivated individual with an obsession for data, products and uncovering insights, with extensive startup and/or eCommerce experience. You will be partnering with our teams from product, marketing, design, and engineering, to support the growth of our products and business. As our first dedicated data hire, you will be the key player in our data success - organizing our data, turning data into insights, and turning insights into action to solve our business problems.

As our Data Scientist at Amaze, you will blaze the trail for how we organize and utilize our existing and future data. Collecting raw data from various sources and preparing them in such a way that they can be interpreted by technical and non-technical business people. Applying the generated insights to concrete business problems and solving these business problems together with business stakeholders. Utilizing various methods including data visualization, story-telling, advanced analysis, or simple data feeds to uncover opportunities for growth and optimization.
We don’t want you to just be a resource that answers questions - we want you to act as a genuine data partner with your team and the broader business. We have a lot of varied data and need people who can use their skills to help us make the most of it!
We also need your extensive startup, collaboration and leadership experience to build the foundations for our future data teams. This role will act as the driver of our data strategy.
What you’ll do:
-Become an expert on our business and develop the analytics, data models, dashboards, and reporting relating to it with a heavy emphasis on providing necessary data to the marketing team
-Review, optimize, and propose, tools capturing data across the full customer journey; manage all BI tools
-Work with stakeholders to ensure that they understand their part of the product or business and how it is performing
-Find insights that suggest future directions and improvements in the product and business.
- Work with Product, Marketing, Engineering, and our third-party tooling providers to ensure that our data is up-to-date and error-free
-Hands-on development, tuning, and overall management of our Data platforms
- Establishing data principles, and practices to plan, manage, and deliver solutions - ensuring integrity, quality and timeliness of data.
-Training, mentoring and supporting teams to gain a data mindset, and understand data principles, and practices. Extend data literacy and curiosity throughout the whole company through education projects
-Responsibility for the data considerations during the development of new features, functionality, and optimization from raw data ingestion, to the access and modeling layer, through to maintaining the visualization layer
-Providing functional and technical subject matter expertise with respect to data management, business intelligence, and reporting.
- Establish close partnership with leadership—especially Product, Engineering, and Marketing—to define the strategic data architecture and roadmap aligned to business strategy.
- Apply product-embedded data science practices, including event- and behavioral-data modeling and support for AI- and ML-driven product features through signal design, evaluation, and feedback loops, while managing planning and delivery of data projects and initiatives across the wider business.
-Evaluate existing and new Data solutions to ensure they support current business needs and growth.
-Work closely with stakeholders to align technologies and capabilities with business strategies while delivering pragmatic excellence when supporting business data needs by leveraging the existing platforms and architecture patterns where possible.
-Have an end-to-end vision, and see how a logical design will translate into one or more physical data models, and how the data will flow through the layered architecture within the data landscape.
-Evaluate and renew implemented data solutions, to ensure their relevance and effectiveness in supporting business needs and growth.
-Emphasize the importance of and ensure that data management practices are embedded in all data solutions.
-Ultimately, establish and grow the data area of business at Amaze to support our big vision.
What we’re looking for:
-7+ Years of Data/Engineering Experience including experience building and leading teams.
-Extensive and proven experience in startups - bring clarity to projects, teams and data to achieve business goals and fast-paced growth.
- Experience working with marketing teams to help accelerate company growth and double down on marketing programs that are contributing to revenue growth.
-Strong competency with SQL, and Tableau and like tools; experience with data-warehouses such as Snowflake, FiveTran, or BigQuery is a plus!
-Experience wrangling and analyzing data including migrating from client to server-side data solutions.
-Experience with optimizing product funnels, running experiments, and building dashboards that effectively communicate results and outcomes.
-Experience working with a broad variety of teams from marketing to engineering.
-Familiarity with a wide set of Data Warehouse architectures and methodologies, schemas, and performance/optimization principles
-Strong technical knowledge of data integration, metadata and BI analytics tools.
-Strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills. An engaging personality who can take the business on the journey with them. Be able to break down complex topics into simple solutions and ideas
-Highly organized, self-motivated, proactive and able to plan.
-Ability to analyze, understand complex problems and explain technical information in business terms.
-Experience using Snowflake, Google Analytics,,, Tableau, PowerBI or similar BI/data visualization tools
- Strong background in AI, specifically with dbt Semantic Layer and similar technologies
-Comfortable working with stakeholders to build up accurate reports on their areas of the business
-Experience with establishing A/B testing and experiment analysis is a plus
-Experience with very large data sets is a plus. Any prior experience with creative data visualization or design is also valuable.
-It will require close coordination with several stakeholders and a real sense of drive and initiative to keep things moving. Nobody tells you what to do; you identify the opportunities where your team can make the largest impact and you see it through.
