The Opportunity
The AI Generation Engine (SAIGE) team is responsible for rapidly designing, prototyping, and validating AI-first SaaS products that leverage SandboxAQ’s Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) and emerging agentic frameworks. The team operates at high velocity, bridging cutting-edge AI research and production-grade software to unlock new use cases across the company.
SandboxAQ is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, AI to join SAIGE as one of its founding engineers. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role focused on rapidly prototyping, iterating, and scaling AI-driven software systems from concept through production.
This individual will own the end-to-end lifecycle of both internal and external-facing applications, working closely with AI researchers and product partners to de-risk ideas quickly and translate advanced AI concepts into functional, real-world MVPs. Success in this role requires comfort with ambiguity, strong technical judgment, and a bias toward speed, learning, and tangible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and test AI-first SaaS applications that integrate Large Quantitative Models (LQMs) and agentic frameworks, from prototype through production.
Architect and build scalable, reliable software systems that translate cutting-edge AI research into real-world applications.
Serve as a critical bridge between AI researchers and engineering execution, rapidly validating feasibility and de-risking new concepts.
Collaborate closely with product managers and researchers to translate high-level objectives into actionable development plans and shipped outcomes.
Champion strong engineering standards, including code quality, system efficiency, security, and best practices, even in fast-paced prototyping environments.
Essential Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
6+ years of professional software development experience.
Proven experience building and scaling highly available, performant web applications from concept to production.
Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript, with experience in additional languages such as Java, C++, or Rust a plus.
Solid understanding of modern software development practices, including CI/CD, test-driven development, and Agile methodologies.
Highly Desired Skills & Experience
Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience leading complex technical initiatives.
Experience working with AI and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Experience deploying and operating software in major cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Strong Linux fundamentals and familiarity with infrastructure and developer tooling (e.g., Terraform, GitHub, Jira, Confluence).
Demonstrated ability to operate with high autonomy and make sound architectural decisions in ambiguous problem spaces.
