About the role
As the Head of Public Sector Sales at Anthropic, you will own the go-to-market strategy and execution for our AI products, including Claude, within the public sector. You will build and lead a high-performing sales organization from the ground up to drive the adoption of safe and transformative AI solutions across federal, state, and local government agencies. This is an opportunity to shape how frontier AI technology is rolled out and tailored for the unique needs of the public sector.
You will develop strong partnerships with key public sector partners, collaborate closely with Product on adapting our offerings for government requirements, and work cross-functionally to align with the broader sales organization on overall strategy. You'll build out our foundational team of public sector sellers and leaders.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience driving revenue growth in the public sector market for cutting-edge technologies. This role provides a unique opportunity to help shape the expansion of Anthropic's mission to ensure advanced AI systems are built reliably and beneficially within the government vertical. Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the public sector go-to-market strategy to drive revenue growth
- Build the public sector sales organization, providing leadership and development
- Strengthen partnerships with key public sector partners to accelerate adoption
- Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and CS to tailor offerings for government needs
- Analyze public sector trends and dynamics to continually refine GTM
- Oversee public sector sales team, providing guidance on deal strategy and stakeholder management
- Communicate public sector priorities and resourcing needs to sales leadership
- Foster cross-functional collaboration with teams across Anthropic
You may be a good fit if you have:
- 10+ years of public sector sales leadership experience
- Active security clearance
- Track record of building high-performing teams and consistently exceeding targets
- Deep expertise in public sector software/SaaS sales, ideally with exposure to AI/ML
- Experience managing teams focused on federal, state, and local government
- Strategic mindset combined with ability to rapidly operationalize insights
- Adept at navigating complex public sector organizations to drive alignment and results
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills
- Passion for bringing transformative technologies to the public sector in an ethical, responsible way
