Job Description
Partner with senior leadership to create technology strategies that support business goals, including AI and data capabilities. This role will have enterprise-wide impact and influence. Build a collaborative partnership with technology and functional domain vice presidents. Responsible for comprehensive technology, AI, and data product solutions that address prioritized business problems and innovation needs. Objectives are defined in collaboration with senior AbbVie leadership and results assess from a 3–5-year perspective, including value delivery and adoption.
Responsibilities:
- Strategy and Influence: Responsible for leading development of a 3–5-year strategy by working in partnership with business domain vice presidents. Includes AI capabilities supporting enterprise priorities.
- Process Improvement and Optimization: Responsible for identifying overall process and/or technology improvements, including AI, automation, analytics, and data products.
- Decisions & amp; Policies: Accountable for key decisions based on enterprise strategies. Determines enterprise operating policies and procedures for relevant domains, including AI and data governance.
- People Management: Responsible for managing directors and directing an enterprise critical function where the scope and complexity of responsibilities require the integration of multiple business and/or technology domains.
- Impact: Make decisions and provide recommendations that have a significant long-term impact on AbbVie and affect the financial, employee and/or public relations posture of AbbVie.
- Resource Management: Responsible for determining the resource management strategy and organizational structure of multiple business and/or technology domains. Oversee strategic AI and data product investments.
- Liaison and Relationship Building: Builds collaborative relationships and effectively interacts frequently with business and technology vice presidents within and outside of the company. Influences and advice on enterprise-wide strategies and programs, investment priorities, and value objectives. Interact well with diverse groups across the enterprise and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
- Culture: Consistently demonstrate AbbVie’s Ways of Working and Leadership Attributes including an enterprise mindset and people leadership. Effectively manages performance, provides timely feedback, appropriately rewards and recognizes valuable achievement, develops talent, and creates a succession pipeline. Understand and execute AbbVie's vision, goals, and strategies. This role has accountability for the performance and results strategically important functions.
- Portfolio Management and Value Delivery: Accountable for a portfolio of technology, AI, and data initiatives ensuring value realization, adoption, and delivery.
- AI and Data Product Portfolio Enablement: Establish and manage an enterprise AI and data product portfolio – prioritization, lifecycle, adoption, and cross-functional alignment – ensuring initiatives are scalable, compliant, and governed.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and 15+ years of experience required.
- Proven ability to effectively connect employee and BTS functional goals to business and/or overall AbbVie goals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to drive outstanding employee performance and engagement through developing, coaching, motivating, energizing, and inspiring team members.
- Experience managing teams of at least 20 people with a resource mix of managers, employees, matrixed teams, virtual teams, contractors, and managed service providers.
- Ability to communicate problems in terms that are understandable to all levels of the organization, including C-Suite.
- Thought leader for AbbVie in their business and technology domain(s).
- Experiencing managing a budget of at least $20 million.
- Experience developing and executing enterprise AI, data, and digital transformation strategies.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree and work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Experience in technology operation, strategy, planning and implementation and/or relevant business domain is preferred.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs.
