You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.
This is a hybrid role based out of Palo Alto, CA.
Help build the next generation of AI-enabled applications on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP)!
SAP is looking for a Senior Agentic AI Engineer to join the BTP Product Management Regional Implementation Group (RIG), a hands-on team focused on bringing the latest SAP innovations into real customer environments.
In this role, you will work directly with customers across the Americas to design and implement production-intent solutions using SAP Business AI Platform, specifically Joule Studio 2.0 and related services. These projects sit at the intersection of engineering, product innovation, and customer collaboration, helping early adopters turn new technologies into working applications.
You will contribute to building AI-enabled applications, intelligent automation solutions, and modern cloud services, while also helping shape SAP’s products through direct feedback from real-world implementations.
If you enjoy hands-on development, working closely with customers, and experimenting with emerging technologies such as AI agents and intelligent workflows, this role offers a unique opportunity to have both technical and product impact.
What you’ll build
- You will work with customers across the Americas to design and implement production-intent solutions on SAP Business AI Platform, with a focus on AI-enabled scenarios including custom agents, intelligent applications, and intelligent workflows such as n8n. Through hands-on development, you will help transform emerging SAP capabilities into real, working solutions for customer use cases.
- You will collaborate closely with your product manager, development architect, and customer technical teams to design and implement solutions using the latest SAP capabilities. This includes translating business requirements into scalable architectures and supporting customers as they adopt new technologies.
- You will stay current on SAP’s latest product releases and platform capabilities, evaluating their suitability for customer use cases and helping assess architectural approaches, implementation strategies, and technical trade-offs.
- You will contribute structured product feedback based on real customer engagements, partnering with SAP Product Management and Architecture teams to help improve product capabilities and developer experience.
- You will assist in creating sample implementations, reference architectures, configuration examples, and developer enablement materials that help internal teams and future customers adopt new SAP technologies more easily.
What you bring:
- University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; 4+ years of software development experience building and shipping production systems, with increasing responsibility over time.
- You are a recognized go-to developer for complex technical challenges on your team — peers come to you when things are hard.
- Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals. You are comfortable building frontend experiences, backend services, APIs, and data integrations, and you know how to make them work together.
- Proficient in backend languages (Python, Node.js, Java, or Go) and modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, or UI5). Comfortable with Docker, cloud-native development (AWS, Azure, GCP, or SAP BTP), API design, DevOps & CI/CD pipelines.
- Practical AI expertise: generative AI, LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, RAG patterns, and agentic architectures. You have built and delivered AI-powered solutions, not just prototyped them.
- Experience building agents using modern frameworks and protocols (MCP, A2A, LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar); you've gone beyond tutorials and built something meaningful, whether in production, a significant internal project, or a customer-facing PoC.
- Understanding LLM production concerns: grounding, guardrails, latency, cost optimization, and observability.
- Familiarity with knowledge graphs, vector stores, relational databases, and embedding pipelines.
- You work independently, set up your own priorities, and take full ownership of your deliverables from start to finish.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills. You build partnerships with cross-functional teams (product, engineering) to translate business problems into working software.
- A cloud-first mindset, able to work effectively in a globally distributed, cross-cultural environment.
- Passionate about continuous learning and turning ambitious AI ideas into production-grade solutions.
SAP Ecosystem (a strong plus):
- Experience developing on SAP BTP / SAP Build / Joule or working with SAP AI Core.
- Internal candidates with SAP technology expertise who are eager to apply it to AI-enabled scenarios are strongly encouraged to apply.
We know that no single person checks every box. If you bring strong engineering skills and a genuine drive to build AI-powered solutions — whether your background is in SAP technologies, open-source AI, or agentic systems, or a mix of all three — we'd love to hear from you.
Where you belong:
As part of the BTP Product Management Regional Implementation Group (RIG), you will help bring early-stage SAP innovations into real customer environments.
RIG is a hands-on team within SAP BTP Product Management focused on accelerating adoption of the latest SAP technologies. We work directly with early adopter customers to design and implement AI-centric scenarios, transforming new product capabilities into real, production-intent solutions.
These engagements validate product innovations in the field, create repeatable reference implementations, and provide valuable product feedback early in the product lifecycle.
