This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Software Engineer, 3D Computer Vision based in the United States.
This is a high-impact technical leadership role at the intersection of 3D computer vision, photogrammetry, and production-scale machine learning systems. You will lead the core reconstruction pipeline powering large-scale reality capture used across industries such as construction, agriculture, energy, and infrastructure. Operating as a player-coach, you will remain deeply hands-on while shaping technical direction, setting engineering standards, and mentoring a growing team. The role blends cutting-edge research with real-world constraints, focusing on systems that must perform reliably at massive scale. You will also play a key role in evolving how AI-assisted development is used across the engineering lifecycle. This is a remote-first environment designed for high autonomy, deep technical ownership, and continuous innovation.

Accountabilities
This role is responsible for leading the design, execution, and evolution of a production-grade 3D photogrammetry and computer vision pipeline, while also contributing as a hands-on technical builder and emerging people leader. It requires ownership of both system performance and team growth in a high-scale, AI-enabled engineering environment.
- Lead the end-to-end design and optimization of the photogrammetry and 3D reconstruction pipeline, including SfM, MVS, feature matching, depth estimation, and mesh reconstruction systems.
- Drive integration of modern 3D approaches such as Gaussian splatting and foundation 3D models, evaluating when and how they enhance production performance.
- Build, ship, and maintain scalable 3D computer vision systems optimized for speed, accuracy, and robustness in production environments.
- Own technical investigations from diagnosis through production rollout, ensuring long-term system stability and performance.
- Define and uphold technical standards for 3D vision work, including experiment rigor, system design quality, and production readiness.
- Establish observability and monitoring frameworks for photogrammetry systems, including KPIs, dashboards, and data quality tracking.
- Mentor engineers and gradually expand into formal people leadership, starting with 1–2 direct reports and scaling over time.
- Partner closely with leadership to translate roadmap priorities into executed, well-sequenced technical delivery.
- Develop reusable engineering and debugging frameworks, including tooling, workflows, and AI-enabled development practices.
- Lead adoption of AI-first and agent-assisted development workflows, including evaluation of emerging tools and coding agents.
Requirements
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in 3D computer vision systems at production scale, combined with strong engineering leadership potential and hands-on technical depth across modern ML and vision toolkits.
- 7+ years of experience in 3D computer vision, machine learning, or related fields, with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience building and operating production-scale photogrammetry or 3D reconstruction systems.
- Strong expertise in core 3D vision domains such as SfM, MVS, feature matching, monocular depth estimation, SLAM, or mesh reconstruction.
- Demonstrated ability to balance classical computer vision approaches with modern learning-based methods.
- Experience shipping systems under real-world production constraints, not limited to research prototypes.
- Proficiency in C++ for performance-critical systems.
- Strong working knowledge of modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience running large-scale ML experiments in cloud environments and working with containerized infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and engineering best practices.
- Exposure to Gaussian splatting and/or foundation 3D models (e.g., MASt3R, DUSt3R) is highly valued.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical systems to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring engineers and interest in growing into broader technical leadership responsibilities.
- Comfort working in remote-first environments with alignment to Pacific Time collaboration.
- Bonus: experience with geospatial systems, aerial imagery pipelines, or robotics-enabled perception systems.
Benefits
- Remote-first work environment with flexible scheduling
- Comprehensive healthcare coverage (medical, dental, vision)
- Paid family leave and strong parental support policies
- Flexible PTO to support rest and work-life balance
- Career growth opportunities in both technical leadership and people management paths
- Learning and development support for continuous skill advancement
- Exposure to cutting-edge 3D vision, AI systems, and large-scale real-world datasets
- Collaborative, innovation-driven culture focused on solving meaningful real-world problems
- Opportunities to work with advanced AI tooling and shape engineering best practices
