The Opportunity
We are looking for a highly technical AI engineer who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with deep curiosity about emerging AI capabilities. This role extends well beyond prompt engineering. You'll be responsible for building the systems, infrastructure, and intelligence that power meaningful user experiences.
You will evaluate models, build agent frameworks, develop retrieval systems, implement personalization strategies, and deploy production-grade AI features that directly influence how customers create, collaborate, and innovate.
Success in this role requires both technical depth and product intuition. You'll be expected to navigate ambiguity, experiment rapidly, and transform early concepts into scalable, customer-facing capabilities.
What You'll Own
AI Architecture & Platform Development
- Design and implement the core AI infrastructure that powers the platform's intelligent capabilities.
- Select, evaluate, and optimize foundation models, orchestration frameworks, and AI services.
- Build scalable systems that move seamlessly from prototype to production.
- Create abstractions and tooling that enable rapid experimentation while maintaining reliability.
Agentic Product Experiences
- Develop sophisticated agent-driven workflows capable of assisting users throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Build systems that reason, retrieve information, generate content, and collaborate across complex tasks.
- Create AI experiences that help users explore possibilities, refine concepts, and make better decisions.
- Design orchestration layers that coordinate multiple AI capabilities into cohesive user experiences.
Applied Machine Learning & Generative AI
- Implement and optimize workflows involving large language models, multimodal systems, retrieval pipelines, and personalization engines.
- Develop evaluation methodologies that improve output quality, consistency, and user satisfaction.
- Leverage user feedback, behavioral data, and experimentation to continuously improve model performance.
- Explore emerging techniques across generative AI, agent systems, and machine learning to maintain a technical edge.
Product & Engineering Collaboration
- Work closely with founders and product leaders to define the AI vision and technical roadmap.
- Partner with engineering teams to integrate AI functionality into polished customer-facing experiences.
- Contribute to architectural discussions spanning frontend, backend, infrastructure, and machine learning systems.
- Help establish engineering standards, best practices, and technical direction as one of the company's earliest technical leaders.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful work on AI, machine learning, or intelligent software products.
- At least 1.5+ years building or contributing to agent-based products, autonomous workflows, or AI-driven user experiences.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript with experience building production backend systems.
- Strong Python skills with hands-on experience using machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Experience taking AI features from concept to production and supporting them at scale.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and independently drive technical initiatives from ideation through deployment.
- Strong product instincts and a passion for creating user-facing AI experiences that solve real problems.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working at high-growth startups or venture-backed technology companies.
- Background building agentic systems, autonomous workflows, or AI copilots.
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector search, or personalization systems.
- Exposure to multimodal AI applications involving text, image, or design-related workflows.
- Experience scaling machine learning systems and production AI infrastructure.
- Prior founding engineer, startup founder, or early-stage team experience.
