Job Description:
The AVP, AI Strategy & Transformation is responsible for defining, prioritizing, and delivering enterprise AI capabilities that enhance operational efficiency, member experience, and enterprise risk management across The Mutual Group.
This role owns the end-to-end AI product lifecycle and portfolio, from strategy and opportunity identification through deployment, scaling, adoption, and optimization, with accountability for business outcomes and value realization. This leader serves as a strategic connector between business functions and technology teams, driving alignment, prioritization, and execution across complex enterprise AI initiatives.
Operating as a senior leader, this individual influences enterprise priorities and delivers scalable, repeatable AI solutions across Member organizations. The role requires strong strategic leadership, stakeholder management, and organizational influence. This leader also represents The Mutual Group through industry engagement, conferences, speaking opportunities, and external partnerships while staying current on emerging AI trends, technologies, and market developments.

Product Strategy & AI Portfolio Leadership
Define and own TMG’s AI product roadmap aligned to strategic business priorities and measurable outcomes
Identify, evaluate, and drive prioritization of AI opportunities that enable operational efficiency, business value, and Member impact
Establish product vision, success metrics, investment priorities, and adoption strategies for enterprise AI capabilities
Develop scalable AI accelerators, reusable frameworks, and repeatable deployment models across Member organizations
Help shape enterprise AI operating models, standards, and best practices across the organization
Monitor emerging AI trends, technologies, regulatory developments, and competitive activity to inform enterprise AI strategy
AI Product Ownership & Delivery
Lead AI products through the full business lifecycle from concept and prioritization through pilot, deployment, adoption, optimization, and ongoing performance management in partnership with technology teams
Lead cross-functional product delivery and prioritization, balancing business value, feasibility, governance, risk, and cost considerations
Define product requirements and delivery standards aligned to AI/ML development standards
Establish performance monitoring and evaluation frameworks for AI effectiveness, adoption, accuracy, and business impact
Enterprise Collaboration, Adoption & Stakeholder Leadership
Serve as the primary liaison across business, technology, data, engineering, risk, and governance functions
Influence alignment across competing priorities and drive decision-making in complex, cross-functional environments
Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship across cross-functional AI initiatives and product teams.
Build and maintain strong relationships with executive leadership, Member organizations, external partners, and vendors
Lead stakeholder engagement, communication, enablement, and change management efforts to accelerate enterprise AI adoption and value realization
Define scalable enablement strategies including training, implementation playbooks, user guidance, and adoption frameworks to support repeatable deployment across Member organizations
Translate complex AI concepts into clear, business-focused communications tailored to executive and operational audiences
Responsible AI, Governance & Risk Management
Partner with Risk, Legal, Compliance, Security, and Model Governance teams to align AI products with Responsible AI standards, enterprise policies, and regulatory requirements
Incorporate governance, transparency, privacy, human oversight, and risk mitigation practices into AI product design, delivery, and operational processes
Drive ongoing monitoring, model performance management, and continuous improvement processes in partnership with governance and oversight teams
External Engagement & Industry Leadership
Represent The Mutual Group at conferences, industry forums, speaking engagements, and strategic partner discussions
Maintain awareness of emerging AI capabilities, market trends, vendor solutions, and industry best practices
Identify and incorporate externally identified opportunities to strengthen The Mutual Group’s AI strategy, innovation roadmap, and competitive positioning
Qualifications:
7+ years of product management, product ownership, or technology leadership experience in AI, digital, data, or related domains
Experience leading enterprise-scale AI, machine learning, or Generative AI products and capabilities
Strong understanding of GenAI, LLMs, predictive models, RAG, prompting, evaluation frameworks, AI governance, and Responsible AI principles
Demonstrated ability to define strategy, influence executive stakeholders, and lead complex cross-functional initiatives
Strong business and technical acumen with the ability to connect AI capabilities to measurable business outcomes
Experience designing scalable, repeatable products or platforms across multiple business units or customers
Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and change leadership skills
Experience in regulated industries such as insurance, financial services, or healthcare preferred
Experience in P&C insurance operations or mutual insurance environments preferred
Familiarity with enterprise AI platforms and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP preferred)
Relevant certifications in agile product ownership, AI product management, or cloud AI technologies preferred
Pay Range:
Anticipated Hiring Range:
$150,000 - $200,000 annual base salary depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location
