About the Team:
The Ads Creative Effectiveness team is aimed at improving the impact of ad creative at Reddit through generative and predictive products. We adapt and finetune LLMs/VLMs to help advertisers make impactful images, videos, text and more. We build performance predictors to understand and rank ad components, ensuring the advertiser ships the best possible campaigns. We construct insight and recommendation engines to guide advertisers towards best practices and key enhancements, distilling knowledge about what works at Reddit to supercharge their performance.
About the Role:
Reddit’s newly minted Ads Creative Effectiveness team sits at the heart of our creative strategy, building GenAI and predictive products that help advertisers ship high-impact campaigns. We are searching for a Sr. Machine Learning Engineer with in-depth modeling expertise that can help us build the future of generative products for ad creative at Reddit and develop predictive models for various scoring and ranking use cases.
Responsibilities:
- Creative Performance Modeling: Architect and implement state-of-the-art predictive models to forecast the effectiveness of ad creatives. You will move beyond basic metadata to build systems that analyze visual and textual features to predict "winning" assets before they spend a single dollar.
- Production-Grade Scoring: Design low-latency inference stacks for high-throughput predictive models. You will solve for the trade-off between model complexity (e.g., deep neural nets) and the millisecond-latency requirements of the Reddit ad auction.
- Automated Creative Insights: Engineer systems that provide "explainable" feedback to advertisers. You ensure our models don't just predict performance but also identify why a creative is succeeding or failing.
- Partner Broadly: Collaborate with Product, Sales, and sibling Ads ML teams to integrate predictive models into the Ad Manager UI, helping advertisers make data-driven decisions.
- Evaluation & Calibration: Embed robust backtesting frameworks and calibration layers to ensure model predictions remain accurate across diverse advertiser verticals and evolving user behaviors on Reddit.
Required Qualifications:
- Expertise in Predictive Modeling: Deep experience building and deploying supervised learning models (e.g., XGBoost, LightGBM, or Deep Neural Networks) specifically for predictive tasks.
- Statistical Rigor & Experimentation: Experience with backtesting, model calibration, and A/B testing. You understand how to validate predictive signals and ensure models generalize well across diverse advertiser verticals.
- Product-Minded ML: A focus on "explainable AI." You are excited about translating complex model weights into actionable insights that help advertisers understand how to improve their creative strategy.
- Collaboration & Communication: Ability to partner with Product and Engineering teams to integrate predictive scores into user-facing tools. You can explain technical trade-offs—like precision vs. recall—to stakeholders in terms of business impact.
