About Humble Robotics
Working at Humble Robotics means taking on the biggest change in ground transportation in decades. We’re building an autonomous, zero-emissions hauler that dramatically lowers the cost of freight with groundbreaking vision-based AI, designed for today’s global logistics network.
We’re a fast-moving, close-knit team of AV industry veterans and innovative thinkers. We don’t believe culture can be engineered – but when it falls into place, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.
Progress has never felt so present.
Position Overview
Own system-level requirements and architecture for our autonomous vehicle platform. Translate product and safety goals into clear, testable requirements across compute, networking, sensors, telematics, power distribution, and drive the design reviews and validation that prove them out end-to-end.
\n
Key Responsibilities
- Decompose vehicle-level requirements down to subsystem and component level across compute, networking, sensors, telematics, power distribution, and articulate the rationale behind each.
- Partner with Mechanical Engineers to align on mechanical requirements - durability, vehicle dynamics, enclosures, sealing, etc.
- Drive the end-to-end requirements process: capture, review, baseline, and change control. Select and stand up the tooling that makes the highest impact (we are not tied to Jama or DOORS).
- Support system performance analysis, deviation analysis, structured testing, debugging, and system improvements.
- Run cross-functional design reviews and orchestrate verification and validation of requirements with HW, SW/Autonomy, Functional Safety, and Test teams.
- Partner with Functional Safety on HARA, safety goals, and ASIL-driven technical safety requirement decomposition; ensure traceability from item definition to test.
- Interface with SW/Autonomy on interfaces, timing, compute, and networking budgets; own the system-of-systems view and arbitrate trade-offs across domains.
- Lead root-cause analysis for cross-domain issues surfaced in bring-up, DV, or on-vehicle; feed learnings back into requirements and architecture.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Computer Engineering; 5+ years of high-impact systems engineering experience in automotive or similarly rigorous domains
- End-to-end ownership on at least one automotive program from requirements definition through DV, PV, and SOP not just one slice of the V-cycle.
- Broad working knowledge of every major hardware domain on a vehicle: compute/SoCs, in-vehicle networking (CAN/CAN FD, Automotive Ethernet, LIN), sensors (camera, radar, lidar, IMU, GNSS), telematics, HV/LV power distribution, chassis, and powertrain.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, testable requirements and defend the rationale behind them in cross-functional reviews.
- Hands-on experience orchestrating design reviews, DFMEAs, and requirement-based V&V campaigns across multiple disciplines.
- Fluency with functional safety (ISO 26262) and practical use of HARA, safety goals, and ASIL decomposition.
- Comfortable working through ambiguity and defining the process - requirements tooling, review cadence, traceability
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience at an AV, robotaxi, autonomous trucking, or ADAS program at OEM/Tier-1.
- Track record of selecting, deploying, or replacing requirements management tooling.
- Exposure to HIL/SIL strategy and the instrumentation needed for on-vehicle verification.
- Experience working directly with powertrain, chassis, and/or HV traction systems on production vehicles.
CompensationSalary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including qualifications, skills, experience, and location. We also offer competitive equity compensation and benefits.
