Our client, a prominent US MNC is seeking a highly skilled Polymer Specialist to join our newly established Research & Innovation Center at IIT-Madras. This role focuses on developing disruptive water treatment technologies through advanced polymer and membrane science.
The Role
- Position: Polymer Specialist
- Location: Chennai, India (IIT-Madras ICCW)
- Reporting to: Director
Key Responsibilities
- R&D Leadership: Independently research and develop new sorption technologies, polymer modifications, and membrane functionalization.
- Proof of Concept: Move innovative ideas from literature/patent review to lab-scale studies and proof-of-concept stages.
- Collaboration: Partner with global Business Unit technical teams to screen technologies for technical viability and IP potential.
- Testing & Analysis: Design and conduct application-testing experiments; analyze results using advanced instrumentation.
- IP Management: Maintain a patent library and support the design of patentable solutions.
Selection Criteria
- Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or a related field (focus on membranes/fibers preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in technology discovery/development within the water treatment industry.
- Technical Expertise: * Proven experience in polymer/membrane modification and grafting.
- Hands-on proficiency with Analytical Instrumentation (ICP-MS, GPC, GC-MS, FTIR, SEM, TGA).
- Familiarity with Intellectual Property (IP) processes in India and the US.
- Soft Skills: Self-motivated leader with outstanding organizational skills and the ability to work in a global, cross-functional team.
- Track Record: Documented technical achievements through patents, publications, and international conference presentations.
