We’re hiring a Market Research Analyst to help OpenAI anticipate market shifts, surface actionable insights, and inform strategy across products, launches, and go-to-market efforts. This role blends proactive market sensing with structured research, translating external signals into clear, decision-oriented recommendations for cross-functional teams.
What You’ll Do
Market Monitoring & Insight Generation
Build and maintain a structured view of key market signals across customers, developers, competitors, and platforms.
Identify emerging trends early and translate them into implications for OpenAI’s priorities, positioning, and product roadmap.
Develop repeatable approaches to market sensing that surface meaningful changes before they become obvious.
Competitive & Category Research
Track competitor activity including product launches, pricing and packaging, partnerships, developer programs, and ecosystem strategy.
Maintain market maps across segments, key players, routes to market, and evolving customer preferences.
Produce concise, decision-oriented briefs and readouts for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

You Might Thrive in This Role If You Have
4+ years of experience in market research or a related field (technology experience preferred).
Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills.
Comfort operating in ambiguity and building lightweight systems to create ongoing visibility.
Ability to communicate complex insights clearly and succinctly to cross-functional stakeholders.
Familiarity with developer ecosystems, AI/ML markets, or platform products.
Tools & Working Style
Experience building dashboards or lightweight analytics views (e.g., Google Sheets, BI tools; basic scripting is a plus).
Comfortable working across Product, Go-to-Market, Marketing, Communications, and Strategy teams in fast-paced environments.
Strong judgment and prioritization skills, with a bias toward clarity and action.
