I’m partnered with a well-funded, high-growth AI drug discovery company that is building next-generation infrastructure to dramatically accelerate therapeutic development. Their platform combines large-scale machine learning, modern data systems, and deep workflow integration to help research teams move faster and make better decisions. They are backed by top-tier investors and are assembling a world-class engineering team at the intersection of AI and real-world impact.
They are now hiring a senior AI Engineer to lead the build-out of a completely new agentic layer on top of their core platform. This is a high-ownership, zero-to-one role focused on designing and deploying intelligent agents capable of reasoning, planning, and autonomously executing complex workflows at scale.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build a scalable agentic framework (reasoning, planning, tool use, orchestration)
- Design memory systems, state management, and feedback loops for autonomous agents
- Integrate LLMs and foundation models into robust, production-grade systems
- Develop evaluation, monitoring, and guardrails to ensure reliability and performance
- Define APIs and abstractions that enable agents to interact seamlessly with internal tools and data systems
- Lead technical direction for the agentic layer and collaborate closely with platform and ML teams
- Help hire and mentor additional engineers as the function grows
Qualifications
- 6+ years of backend or systems engineering experience
- Strong track record building production AI systems (LLMs, multi-agent systems, orchestration frameworks, or similar)
- Deep Python expertise and strong software architecture fundamentals
- Experience with distributed systems and scalable cloud infrastructure
- Demonstrated success owning and delivering complex, zero-to-one projects
- Comfortable in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments
- No prior biology or chemistry experience required
Pay range and compensation package
- Base salary up to $250,000
