Job Summary
The AI Software Engineer builds AI‑driven and automated tools, develops Python applications, creates LLM/RAG‑based assistants, and delivers low‑code Microsoft 365 solutions while supporting daily IT needs and high‑impact improvements.
Essential Functions
- Build AI and automation tools that reduce manual work and improve efficiency across departments.
- Develop internal Python tools to support quoting, engineering, service, and operations (such as quote generators and part-matching tools).
- Design and implement LLM/RAG solutions—like Copilot-style assistants—to help teams quickly access knowledge and training materials.
- Create low‑code applications using the Power Platform and integrate them with Microsoft 365 tools (SharePoint, Teams).
- Support day‑to‑day IT needs and partner with teams to solve technical problems and prioritize high‑value improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Proficient in Python, including building, testing, and maintaining internal tools.
- Working knowledge of LLMs and RAG, including prompting, retrieval, and basic evaluation concepts.
- Comfort with Microsoft 365 tools such as Teams and SharePoint, and experience building solutions that integrate with them.
- Familiarity with the Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps) or willingness to learn, with an automation‑focused mindset.
- Clear communicator who can work effectively in a limited/controlled IT environment and document solutions for users.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (STEM is a plus) or equivalent hands‑on technical experience.
- 1–3 years of practical Python experience (work, academic, or personal projects).
- Able to explain past projects end‑to‑end, showing real problem‑solving and interest in building things.
- Nice to have: exposure to Azure or other cloud services and willingness to learn the internal tech stack.
- Bonus: progress toward or completion of Azure AI Engineer certification.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position is primarily sedentary and performed in an office or climate-controlled warehouse environment, requiring prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and working at a computer. The employee must occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 35 pounds. Periodic visits to the shop floor are required, involving walking, standing, bending, and navigating a manufacturing or industrial environment. Vision, hearing, and manual dexterity sufficient to perform job duties safely and effectively are required
