The Role
eNGINE is hiring two AI Engineers who genuinely want to build software differently. This isn't about bolting AI onto an existing process — it's about using AI tools as a real part of how you design, build, and ship code every day. If you already reach for tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or Windsurf without thinking twice, and you're curious about what else they can do for your workflow, this role is built around that instinct.
We need engineers who've taken products from a blank repo to production, can move across the stack without hesitation, and actually enjoy figuring out where AI can make real engineering work faster and better — not just faster on paper.
What You'll Be Doing
Building with AI as part of the process:
- Designing and building applications in Java, Python, and Spring Boot
- Using AI tools day-to-day to speed up development, not just as a novelty
- Spotting places where manual work can be automated, then doing something about it
- Trying out new AI tools as they come along and figuring out which ones actually earn a place in the workflow
Owning delivery end to end:
- Taking projects from design through deployment and into production support
- Building applications that hold up — scalable, maintainable, and reliable under real use
- Weighing in on architecture and helping shape what "good AI-enabled development" looks like for the team
Working AI/ML into the product itself:
- Integrating AI/ML capabilities into applications where it makes sense
- Connecting APIs and services to bring LLM-driven features into what you're building
- Experimenting with prompt engineering to get better, more reliable outputs
Keeping pace with the team:
- Working in a fast-moving, delivery-focused environment
- Participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, and continuous delivery
- Helping the team get faster and more efficient over time, not just individually
Collaborating and sharing what you learn:
- Working closely with product managers and fellow engineers on high-impact projects
- Passing along what you learn about AI tools and techniques instead of keeping it to yourself
- Helping build a team culture where trying new things is normal, not risky
What You Bring
- 6+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Python, and Spring Boot
- A track record of shipping applications from concept to production
- Real, hands-on use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf, or similar) to improve how you work
- Financial services industry experience
- Solid grasp of modern software architecture and development practices
- Comfort working as a generalist across the stack, not just one layer
- Genuine interest in AI and a habit of looking for better ways to do things
Nice to Have
- Experience integrating AI/ML or LLM capabilities into real applications
- Familiarity with AWS or Azure
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automation tooling
- Experience in high-growth or fast-paced engineering environments
- Financial services background (a plus, not a requirement)
