Role: Senior Data Scientist
Location: New York, NY
About the Firm
Our client is a premier global multi-strategy investment firm managing over $30B in assets. Built on a foundation of partnership and intellectual curiosity, the firm has established itself as one of the most respected pod-based platforms in the industry. It distinguishes itself through a collaborative, non-siloed approach to technology, viewing Data Science and AI as fundamental drivers of market alpha rather than back-office functions.
The firm fosters an entrepreneurial culture where innovation is centralized through a dedicated Applied AI group. This structure allows the firm to put cutting-edge LLMs and data tools directly into the hands of its investment teams, ensuring they remain at the forefront of the industry. Employees benefit from an "Own It" mentality, where individuals are given the autonomy and resources to scale their ideas, all while working within a high-touch environment that prioritizes professional growth and human-centric collaboration.
We are looking for a high-impact Data Scientist to join our Data Science & AI organization in New York. This isn't a "back-office" coding role; you will be embedded directly with our Healthcare and Consumer investment teams, serving as their single point of contact for all AI and data-driven workflows.
You’ll act as a strategic partner to Portfolio Managers and Analysts, leveraging alternative data and Generative AI to generate actionable investment signals and give our firm a competitive edge.
The Impact You’ll Make
- Strategic Liaison: Act as the "face of AI" for your coverage area, translating complex technical capabilities into streamlined research workflows for investment professionals.
- Signal Generation: Source, wrangle, and model unstructured alternative datasets to uncover trends and predictive signals in the Healthcare and Consumer sectors.
- Product Innovation: Drive the adoption of LLMs and AI-powered tools, building bespoke solutions that directly improve how our teams generate investment ideas.
- Collaborative Excellence: Work within a global network of AI specialists to pilot emerging techniques and maintain the highest standards of data accuracy.
What You Bring to the Table
- Experience: 2–6 years in Data Science or Analytics. Crucially, you have a track record of supporting investment teams (Buyside) or have deep expertise in the Healthcare/Consumer sectors.
- Technical Edge: Expertise in Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn) and SQL. You have a solid grasp of time-series data and how to handle the "noise" of alternative datasets.
- AI Fluency: You don't just know how LLMs work; you know how to make them useful for a PM. You understand the friction points of AI adoption in finance and how to overcome them.
- Communication: You can explain a complex model to a non-technical stakeholder with clarity, urgency, and business relevance.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (Math, CS, Engineering, Economics, etc.).
Technical "Plus" Skills
- Experience with AWS or cloud-native data environments.
- Familiarity with Airflow for orchestration and Git for version control.
- A creative approach to troubleshooting "messy" data.
Why Join Us?
This is a high-visibility role in the heart of NYC, offering the opportunity to see your work directly impact investment performance. You’ll be part of a culture that values intellectual curiosity, technical rigor, and a "client-first" mindset.
If you are Data Scientist who thrives at the intersection of financial markets and AI, this could be the right fit for you!
