Our client, an investment firm, is seeking an AI Engineer to join their team in El Segundo, CA!
Responsibilities
- Partner with cross-functional teams (engineering, data, operations, product, finance, risk, etc.) to identify high-value workflows suitable for agentic automation.
- Clarify goals, constraints, SLAs, and success metrics before implementation.
- Decompose complex problems into well-scoped, executable tasks.
- Define agent roles (e.g., planner, implementer, reviewer, analyst, operations).
- Author clear prompts, specifications, acceptance criteria, and guardrails.
- Design agentic workflows as production systems, not one-off scripts.
- Incorporate observability, failure handling, validation, and iteration from the outset.
- Anticipate edge cases, feedback loops, and operational risks.
- Review and harden AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and safety.
- Integrate agentic solutions into existing services, pipelines, and infrastructure.
- Ensure solutions meet reliability, security, and compliance standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree is required.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including: data structures and algorithms, distributed systems basics, concurrency, networking, and database fundamentals.
- 5–7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating production backend or data-intensive systems.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience working with LLMs or AI tooling in real-world contexts, such as:
- Using AI tools to design, write, refactor, and review production code.
- Building systems that programmatically interact with LLM APIs (e.g., tool/function calling, retrieval-augmented generation, code or data workflows).
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, TypeScript/Node.js, Go).
- Experience with modern cloud and development environments (cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, monitoring).
Demonstrated Ability To
- Break down ambiguous problems into clear, agent-executable tasks.
- Write precise specifications, prompts, and acceptance criteria.
- Critically evaluate and improve AI-generated outputs for reliability, safety, and performance.
