We're seeking a Founding Applied Scientist to build enterprise-grade AI capabilities from the ground up. As we scale from individual retailers to enterprise clients with 20-100+ locations, you'll own the full model development lifecycle—from data collection planning and quality assessment to training, inference optimization, and presenting technical insights to engineering teams and executives.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong computer vision expertise and the ability to write production-quality code, not pure research. You'll work closely with our Turkey-based engineering team while being based in NYC (4 days/week in office), reporting to the CTO and collaborating with the future Head of Engineering to ship AI-powered retail security solutions driving 10x growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead production computer vision development using real-world applications (e.g., YOLO or similar architectures).
- Manage the full model lifecycle: production training/optimization, inference deployment, data collection/quality assessment, and presenting findings to engineering and executive teams.
- Ship customer-facing products with production code deployed through cross-functional engineering teams.
- Collaborate with distributed teams across time zones, including our Turkey-based engineering team.
Requirements
Seniority & Experience
- 3+ years in computer vision, machine learning engineering, applied scientist, or research scientist roles.
- Production computer vision experience with real-world CV application development (YOLO or similar), beyond academic/research projects.
- Experience shipping customer-facing products with production code via cross-functional teams.
Education
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or Computer Vision.
Hard Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Python with PyTorch or TensorFlow for production ML/AI work, with proven ability to write substantial production code.
- Full model lifecycle expertise: production training/optimization, inference deployment, data collection/quality assessment, and technical presentations.
- Comfortable working with distributed teams across time zones (Turkey-based engineering team).
