About VCS HR – AI Engineer (Junior)
We are a fast-growing technology company with 90+ employees and a dynamic, collaborative culture. We are looking for a proactive and dependable AI Engineer (Junior) to work closely with senior developers, product managers, and experts to build
scalable, reliable AI features - such as intelligent recommendations, natural-language
interfaces, predictive analytics, and workflow automation - using modern LLMs and ML tooling. This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on the future of our AI initiatives while continuing to develop your technical skills with real-world production systems!
We work with both the Microsoft stack (.NET, C#, MSSQL) and the React/Node stack
(JavaScript/TypeScript). Coding expertise in either of these domains would be preferred but not required if you are comfortable working within/adjacent to those environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and integrate AI-driven features into our HCM web and mobile applications
- (chat-based interfaces, summarization tools, smart search, recommendations, etc.).
- Prototype and evaluate LLM-based solutions using platforms such as Google Gemini.
- Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using vector databases for
- contextualized, domain-aware AI capabilities.
- Fine-tune, prompt-engineer, and optimize model interactions for reliability, correctness, and guardrail enforcement.
- Develop data pipelines and feature processing workflows to support ML experimentation and model deployment.
- Evaluate ML models using metrics appropriate to the use case (classification, ranking, regression, semantic search, etc.).
- Collaborate with senior engineers to deploy, monitor, and update ML/AI systems in
- production.
- Partner with product and domain experts to deeply understand user needs in the HCM space (payroll, scheduling, accruals, workforce management, HR workflows, etc.).
- Contribute to architectural discussions and help shape our long-term AI roadmap.
- Participate in code reviews, project planning, and cross-functional initiatives.

Google Gemini API or similar
Vector databases (preferably Weaviate)
Familiarity with LLM concepts such as:
Prompt engineering
Embeddings
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
Model fine-tuning or adapters (LoRA/PEFT)
Experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP (Vertex AI, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, etc.)
Ability to design and consume REST APIs
Understanding of modern software engineering best practices:
Git workflows
CI/CD
Testing frameworks
Foundational Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- practical experience.
