Role Description
We’re hiring a Senior AI Engineer to join us full-time, on-site in Austin, TX.
In this role, you’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the founding engineering team to architect and scale the next generation of Voxology’s agentic AI platform. You’ll lead the design and deployment of AI agents, orchestration layers, reasoning pipelines, voice workflows, and LLM-powered services that power thousands of patient interactions every day. This is a high-ownership role for a senior builder who can think strategically, execute quickly, and deliver production-grade AI systems in a fast-moving startup environment. What You’ll Do
- Lead the architecture and development of large-scale agentic AI systems, reasoning workflows, tool-use pipelines, and orchestration layers.
- Own end-to-end delivery of major platform components—from design to production deployment.
- Build full-stack features across backend and frontend (Python/TypeScript/React).
- Develop and optimize LLM-powered services, retrieval systems, RAG pipelines, and stateful agent architectures.
- Design and implement APIs, microservices, and integrations with EMRs and healthcare systems.
- Translate real-world patient workflows into high-reliability, voice-enabled AI agents.
- Mentor junior engineers and uphold engineering best practices.
- Drive improvements in inference efficiency, latency, observability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Play a key role in evolving Voxology’s technical roadmap.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python and familiarity with TypeScript/React.
- Experience building backend services, APIs, or distributed systems.
- Prior experience building or deploying AI agents:
- voice, chat, task-oriented, or LLM-driven automation workflows.
- Practical understanding of agentic AI concepts, such as multi-step reasoning, tool calling, workflow orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG),stateful agent architectures, long-context & memory architectures
- Hands-on experience with LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, etc.).
- Solid DevOps skills (Docker, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, AWS/Azure).
- Ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment with ambiguity and high ownership.
- Passion for building AI that solves real operational problems in healthcare.
Bonus Points For
- Experience with speech-to-text, TTS, telephony, or conversational AI pipelines.
- Healthcare tech experience, including HIPAA, EMR/EHR workflows, HL7/FHIR, or integrations.
- Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval systems.
- High-growth SaaS or platform engineering experience.
