About the Company
Our client is a San Francisco startup building next-generation AI agents for workflow automation in the financial services industry. They’ve recently raised $15M to scale their platform and are hiring the next group of engineers. If you’re excited about shaping core product foundations and pushing the boundaries of autonomous systems, this is that early, high-impact stage to grow with a new team.
What You’ll Do
- Build and deploy production-grade AI systems end-to-end, including model development, data pipelines, and FastAPI-based services
- Implement and iterate on AI agents that power complex workflow automation
- Own major features from idea → prototype → shipped product
- Collaborate closely with founders and other early engineers to define technical direction
- Contribute to internal tools, infra, observability, and performance improvements as the product scales
Core Requirements
- Experience building AI/ML models from scratch, not just fine-tuning
- Proficiency in Python and FastAPI
- Prior startup experience with a venture backed company that saw growth
- Ability to move quickly, take ownership, and operate with limited structure
- Solid understanding of modern machine learning fundamentals and production ML practices
Nice to Haves
- Experience with Reinforcement Learning
- Comfort working with React on occasional full-stack tasks
- Master’s or PhD in Machine Learning, AI, or related fields
- Experience designing system architecture or contributing to strategic technical decisions
