Job Title: Research– Applied Perception Scientist
Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite)
Duration: 12+ Months (Extendable)
Pay Rate: $70–$75/hr (W2)
About the Role:
- We are seeking a Research Analyst IV – Applied Perception Scientist to join a world-class research team focused on advancing the future of audio technologies. This role centers on understanding and enhancing individualized auditory perception, supporting next-generation experiences in virtual and augmented reality environments. The ideal candidate is a proactive researcher with strong project management skills, technical expertise, and hands-on experience in perceptual testing and human-participant interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage research projects focused on audio perception
- Conduct pilot listening tests and perceptual experiments
- Analyze data, summarize insights, and communicate findings to stakeholders
- Collaborate with research scientists and cross-functional engineering teams
- Manage equipment procurement and vendor service requests
- Regularly track and report project status, dependencies, and risks
- Support a variety of operational tasks to drive research goals forward
Must-Have Qualifications:
- PhD (preferred) or Master's + industry experience in a relevant field:
- Computational Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Audio Engineering, Acoustics, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or related
- Strong research background in perception science (hearing or vision)
- Solid understanding of computational or cognitive motor function research
- Hands-on experience with scientific programming in MATLAB, Python, C++, or R
- Demonstrated ability to communicate research outcomes in academic or industrial settings
- Proven organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative R&D environment
- Experience with human-participant research and perceptual testing
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ published journal articles in relevant domains
- Strong examples of time management and project execution
- Experience with auditory perception research or perceptual audio modeling
- Willingness to independently manage tasks and engage in operational support
Additional Details:
- This is a 100% onsite role based in Redmond, WA
- Flex schedule allowed, but core working hours are 9am–5pm
- Coding assessment (MATLAB, Python, C++, or R) may be part of the interview process
