Join NVIDIA as a Senior Firmware Engineer and be part of something truly outstanding! In this role, you'll partner with a world-class team at the forefront of AI and accelerated computing technology. Located in Santa Clara, CA, you'll manage the full development cycle for low-level firmware powering NVIDIA’s AI-accelerator hardware. This is your opportunity to influence architectural directions, support a growing team, and foster strategies that substantially boost our products' quality and reliability.
What you'll be doing:
Serve as the primary technical authority for firmware across the product stack (bootloader, drivers, RTOS, application‑level services), providing vision and setting standards.
Conduct regular build reviews, pair-programming sessions, and technical talks to lift up the team and mentor junior engineers.
Translate Product Requirement Documents into detailed firmware specifications, architecture diagrams, and interface contracts.
Lead detailed profiling, optimization, and validation of latency-critical paths to ensure flawless performance and reliability.
Collaborate closely with hardware, silicon, system-software, and AI-software teams to co-design interfaces and drive integration-test strategies.
Successfully carry out methods that boost product quality and reliability while encouraging a collaborative atmosphere.
What we need to see:
B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of professional firmware development experience on complex, high-performance SoC/ASIC platforms.
In-depth knowledge of C/C++ (C‑11 or later), assembly, and low-level hardware interaction (memory‑mapped I/O, interrupt handling, DMA, bootloader design).
Proven experience with real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, VxWorks, ThreadX) and/or bare-metal firmware for latency-critical workloads.
Proficiency with high-speed interfaces (PCIe Gen3/4, DDR4/5, SerDes, Ethernet) and lower-speed buses (SPI, I²C, UART, CAN).
Understanding of server-grade power, cooling, and reliability requirements for datacenters.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
Experience leading a firmware team to compete and succeed in ambitious projects.
Demonstrated ability to strictly adhere to deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
Outstanding communication skills and a proven track record of encouraging inclusive and collaborative environments.
A determined approach to overcoming challenges and successfully implementing innovative solutions.
Previous exposure to world-class AI/ML firmware development and datacenter environments.
