Position Description:

deciBel Research is seeking a mid-level Data Scientist to support a research effort by performing data processing and analysis of large scientific data sets. Responsibilities include:

Analyze large atmospheric, meteorological, and climate data sets from satellites, radar, sensors, and numerical models
Process and analyze geospatial and time-series data
Collect, clean, and pre-process structured and unstructured data from multiple sources
Apply statistical analysis, machine learning, and data mining techniques
Translate complex analytical results into clear scientific insights using a variety of plotting packages

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM-related field

Experience Requirements:

5+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with the Linux operating system
Strong proficiency in Python (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, xarray, Anaconda)
Solid understanding of statistics and probability
Understanding of statistical techniques used to perform data analysis on large data sets
Current SECRET clearance
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Experience with data visualization tools

Special Skills Desired:

Experience in atmospheric sciences in the context of radar
Experience with GPU programming
Experience with Radar technology
